Crawling!

Eliza has been working very, VERY hard on crawling. In fact, she decided to get up at 5:00 this morning to start practicing her skills. Lucky us! So far she just does this one handed smear across the floor. I try to vacuum as much as possible, but she still ends up covered in dog fur and then has to be attacked with the lint brush. Poor little thing. This morning she was really into my Martha Stewart Magazine. Questionable taste (mommy and baby) huh? It's set to her favorite song, Poker Face.

Blah Blah Bloo Bloo

Eliza and I have been spending the week together because I have it off due to "mid-winter break." Ah, the joys of teaching! We've been practicing our skills, eating lots of new food and talking A LOT. These two videos showcase Eliza's new "speech." She gets kind of mad that she has to go to bed at night. This is her telling us off!

7 months!

Eliza turned seven moths old on Friday. We are thrilled that we are at this point, but also a little sad. It seems like just yesterday that she was seven weeks old and I was heading back to work. The time has gone by so quickly, even those long night hours when you're wondering if the baby is ever going to go to sleep. We have treasured every moment with Eliza so far and we can't wait to see what the next month will bring.

Eliza is continuing to make great progress with her sleep. She takes consistent long naps at daycare and is getting better and better at night (with the occasional set-back). She had an extremely fun week! She got to eat peas (loves 'em) and sweet potatoes (love 'em). She is also plowing down lots of breastmilk and rice cereal. At this point, we are pretty sure that Eliza is going to love her food and not be a picky eater.

On Saturday Eliza went to a french bakery and impressed everyone with her chic style. Then she went and looked at the ducks at the local park. She was pretty excited but I think she was a little confused as to why the ducks didn't look like the duckies in her bath. She's a little bit obsessed with her duckies, so we made sure we had a firm grip on her.

Checking out the ducks. What? You don't think this is how one should dress when birdwatching?

Being cute

Eliza and her twin. Good thing I made Wes change out of his zebra print coat and pink pants or there would've been no telling them apart.

There was some excitement around the house on Thursday. We received a package in the mail from Grandma and it had all kinds of goodies: new outfits for Eliza, new clothes for mommy, books, candy (YEAH!), a coffee cup for Wes, plastic baggies (random huh?). But the best part was the Hula Girl outfit from Aunt Natalie who just came back from Hawaii.
Aloha
Eliza is still working on crawling. She can take a step forward, but then her legs kind of flump down and she doesn't really know what to do. She can go backwards really well, and in circles! She continues to notice the dogs and they are noticing her. Hank is catching on that something cool is happening in the high chair (ie food). She loves Hank and laughs hysterically at him (so do we, but we don't tell him that). She also continues to petrify Quinnie. We've started playing Peek-A-Boo and that sends Quinnie flying (cause Peek-A-Boo is so scary). But he loves her and will definitely be her best friend. When she's four.

Booger (Poker) Face

Eliza LOVES Lady Gaga's song Poker Face. She dances to it (with a little help from daddy) and we've had to change the title to Booger Face because of the plethora of green stuff that oozes out of her nose. It doesn't matter though! She's still cute as a button.

Well, Eliza is still working on those upper teeth. We've been praying to the Gods of White Enamel that they pop soon because these things are beasts. They only seem to really affect her at night. Oh, the joys of parenthood. She's becoming a better sleeper and is now an even better napper. We'll get back to sleeping through the night one of these days. That's right, I said "get back to" because Eliza used to sleep through the night until she was 4 months old. Then she rebelled. She decided mommy and daddy were having it too easy. Oh well! I don't mind spending quality time with the little munchkin at 2 am.!

I went on a shopping spree this weekend. Eliza got new pjs, a new coat, and 4 new outfits. I spend all my money on her and guess what? I don't care! She's only a baby once and I'm enjoying every minute of it. We went to lunch on Saturday at Whole Foods and Eliza drew crowds. She was looking particularly stunning in pink sweatshirt paired with a hot pink headband. Wes could hardly get down the aisles without being accosted by middle-aged women fawning over our little bundle of joy. Eliza handled it like a true Diva. She smiled and bounced and showed off her bottom teeth.

She is also continuing to work on crawling. She gets up on all fours and rocks back forth. It's going to be any day now!
